Our country has risen to prominence based on our principles of freedom, the strength of our economy, and the might of our military. But now all three of these pillars of our very society are at risk because of our increased dependency on foreign oil.

The rising price of foreign oil threatens every facet of our lives including the price of gas at the pump for basic transportation, heating oil to warm our homes, diesel fuel to bring groceries to the supermarkets and goods to our stores, and even the fuels needed to keep our military strong and ready to defend our freedom. And while the average American family struggles to put food on the table, clothe their children, pay their credit card debt, and stave off mortgage foreclosure; the rich Arab oil producing nations continue to reap the rewards from our nation's suffering. In the United Arab Emirates, the city of Dubai is home to an indoor snow skiing structure, one of the world's tallest monumental sky scrapers, billion dollar man-made island resorts, and countless other flagrant examples of their incredible wealth at our expense. working Americans and it's time we brought that chapter of American history to a close. We can no longer sit back dormant and complacent while our very way of life is being undermined by countries that fund terrorism with the very dollars we spend everyday at the gas pumps.

Do we really want to allow our economy to slowly and painfully grind to a halt due to the price of oil? Should our large cities look like the photo at the left during rush hour? We have enough oil in our country to truly become oil indenpendent and to break the vise-like grip OPEC and the oil cartels have on us. So why aren't we doing this? Because our Democratic Congress won't allow it The liberals block drilling in barren unihabitable areas of Alaska and off shore  where there  are thousands of acres

of rich oil fields waiting to be drilled and harvested. And what is the saddest part is that they know opening these oil fields is the best thing for America but they simply refuse to do so because of partisan politics!
